Jim Thorpe
A Victorian former coal and railroad town in a steep Lehigh River valley, founded as Mauch Chunk and renamed for Olympian Jim Thorpe in 1954. The Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau markets it as part of the Poconos and nicknames it Little Switzerland. It is home to the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway and the southern gateway to Lehigh Gorge State Park.
